Premium thermally modified hardwood — built for beauty, durability, and long-term performance.
The science behind superior decking
Thermally modified wood decking delivers superior durability, stability, and natural resistance to moisture, insects, and decay. Our innovative heat-and-steam treatment transforms the wood at a molecular level — making it hydrophobic and highly resistant to warping, swelling, and rotting.
This process alters the wood’s sugars, making them indigestible to insects and mold. It also blocks moisture absorption, so the decking resists environmental damage without chemical treatments. Heat treatment deepens the wood’s colour, which you can preserve with a UV finish or let age into a silver-grey patina.
“Tested in Canada’s harsh winters and the Caribbean’s tropical climate — proven performance around the world.”
In Barbados, architects placed a piece of our wood inside a termite mound for six months. The termites ignored it completely — demonstrating its unmatched resistance to pests.

Beautiful Appearance
Rich, uniform darker coloration throughout the full thickness of the board — weather naturally to silver-grey or preserve with CUTEK UV treatment.
Heat. Steam. Permanent change.
The thermally modified wood process began with softwood lumber and now enhances hardwoods like maple, ash, birch, and oak. Each species is treated with a precisely calibrated recipe developed specifically for its characteristics.
We stack lumber with two-inch gaps so heat and steam circulate evenly in our propane-heated kiln. Precise control over temperature and duration ensures each species becomes stable, weather-resistant, and ready for outdoor use.

CUTEK Extreme
CUTEK Extreme is a wood protection oil that keeps your thermally modified wood decking looking great for many years to come.
Many wood coatings allow moisture to seep into the wood, which can cause warping and splitting. CUTEK oils penetrate the wood, creating protection from within — no peeling or flaking. This makes it an excellent choice for preserving the beauty and durability of thermally modified wood decking.
18 colours. One perfect match.
We offer 18 different options of CUTEK Colourtone to ensure you get the perfect colour for your thermally modified wood decking or siding.

Our clip system
ThermalWood Canada has the sole rights to manufacture state-of-the-art GRAD clips — outside of France — to create an easy, DIY installation of your thermally modified wood decking and cladding. The clips are made of POM (polyoxymethylene), one of the highest performing plastics on the market — the same material used to manufacture the soles of ski boots.
