ThermalModification.

ThermalWood Canada prides itself on being a leader in the thermal modification manufacturing of wood products. Our in-house thermal modification process has been studied for many years, yet is simple at the base — using our specially designed kiln, the wood is heated at a precise temperature, essentially cooking the lumber.

ThermalWood Canada thermal modification

Cooking the lumber. Changing it forever.

This process changes the characteristics of the wood. The high heat chemically transforms sugars in the wood, making the wood unattractive to harmful insects, and acts as a barrier against decay caused by humidity and other water damage — a great choice for outdoor or indoor uses where high humidity is present.

“Using only heat and steam — with no added chemicals during the process — we offer the consumer a green alternative solution in a diversified market.”

Durability and Stability Thermally modified wood is significantly more durable and stable than untreated equivalents — with enhanced resistance to the conditions that cause conventional wood to fail.
Improved Dimensional Stability Thermal modification significantly reduces the swelling and shrinkage that causes conventional wood to warp, cup, and gap over time.
Decay and Insect Resistant The high heat chemically transforms sugars in the wood, making the wood unattractive to harmful insects and acting as a barrier against decay caused by humidity and water damage.
Exquisite Appearance Uniform darker coloration throughout the thickness of the lumber — not a surface stain or coating, but a permanent change that goes all the way through the board.
Green Process Using only heat and steam — with no added chemicals during the process — we offer the consumer a green alternative solution in a diversified market.

Specially designedkilns.

ThermalWood Canada uses specially designed kilns to subject wood to precise temperature-controlled conditions — essentially cooking the lumber to permanently change its characteristics. The process has been studied for many years, yet remains simple and effective at its core.

Snap-To-It. No drilling required.

ThermalWood Canada has the sole rights to manufacture state-of-the-art GRAD clips — outside of France — to create an easy, DIY installation of your hardwood decking and cladding.

The clips are made of POM (polyoxymethylene), which is one of the highest performing plastics on the market — the same material used to manufacture the soles of ski boots.

“No need to drill through your wood — meaning no splinters, no exposed hardware, and a perfectly clean result every time.”

01
Save up to 50% on your installation time The GRAD clip system dramatically reduces installation time compared to conventional face-fastening methods — without sacrificing quality or precision.
02
Invisible results No need to drill through your wood, meaning no splinters and no exposed fastener heads on the finished surface.
03
Pre-set spaces between clips means perfect installation every time The clip geometry automatically sets the spacing between boards — consistent results without measuring each run individually.
