One Woman’s Journey To Becoming An Entrepreneur
It was always in the back of Morgan’s mind to return to the industry that she loves most. It was just a matter of biding her time and jumping at the perfect opportunity.
In 2016, while living in Fredericton, Morgan Johnson graduated from Majestany Institute, a beauty school which offers training in the cosmetology industry, as well as hair styling and aesthetics. This led directly to a position with Avalon SalonSpa, where she worked for a period of time before embarking on a new journey to Bathurst.
While Morgan shifted to her new life as a stay at home mom, she always knew that once her kids were in school, she’d go back to aesthetics, and possibly open up her own salon.
Even throughout the few years she spent away from the industry, she never stopped doing nails for friends and family, ensuring that when she returned to a spa setting, she’d be prepared to take on the challenge.
Then the time came for her kids to start school, and Morgan decided the time was right. She was a little hesitant about investing in herself and starting her own business at first but with some push from her family, Morgan took the leap and became an entrepreneur.
Her first attempt to open up her own nail salon proved to be a success as she built up a strong clientele, and met many great people. She stayed in her first location for over a year, and although she was happy, Morgan felt that perhaps there was an opportunity for better growth on the other side of the city.
“I take my daughter to get her haircut at L&Co Hair Salon and I heard from the owner, Louise Hawkins, that she was looking for an aesthetician to rent out a room,” says Morgan. “She told me that there was a great opportunity to build a clientele on the east side.”
After taking some time to decide on her next move, Morgan took Louise’s suggestion and moved Flora Aesthetics by Morgan, to Miramichi Avenue in the L&Co building.
After months at her new location, Morgan couldn’t be happier with the way things are progressing. Her clientele is continuously growing, and working alongside hair stylists is providing her with more opportunities to piggyback off of already established clients, steepening her upward trajectory.
“All the east side clients are happy to have me,” says Morgan. “They tell me all the time, how nice it is to have an aesthetician on this side of the city.”
Morgan offers nails and waxing, and urges anyone who is interested to follow her on social media and book online. Flora Aesthetics by Morgan is active on both Facebook and Instagram, and you can check out all of the services she offers here: https://floraaesthetics.square.site
At L&Co, you’ll also find hair stylists Louise Hawkins and Céline Comeau, as well body piercings by Eryka Porter (Pierced by E).
