When the Brunswick Mine shut down in 2013, Robert Lennon, along with 1,000 others, found himself out of a job.  But the shutdown didn’t come as a surprise.

The mine had run out of ore and had been planning its shutdown for years, so Lennon had lots of warning. And, as a senior manager at the mine, Lennon had lots of opportunities. Lots of opportunities that meant travelling away from his hometown of Bathurst

In rural New Brunswick, a couple hours north of Moncton, a former logging contractor has sold his forest machines to invest in a green technology that will give local wood products the durability to compete with exotic hardwoods. The technology was developed in Finland where wood product manufacturers have found that simply heating lumber at very high temperatures changes the chemical composition of the wood to make it rot resistant.

Thermalwood Canada's wood made it big at the 2013 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA. Premier Guitar's Rebecca Dirks was there to have a look what Fender had for us.
