From Festival Stage to Joint Headline Show: Helltown & The Alt Rocks Gear Up for September Concert

When Helltown and The Alt Rocks took the stage at this year’s Hospitality Days, the energy was electric, despite some unpredictable weather.

By the time Helltown hit the stage, strong winds whipped across Vicker’s Field, rain threatened to shut things down. But the music played on.

Despite the challenges, both bands delivered high-energy sets that had the crowd singing along. “The rain drove some people away, but the ones who stayed got a great show,” says Rob, who also gives La Cave Media a big shoutout for the wonderful pictures and videos they took throughout the festival.

For Mike Goyette, lead singer of The Alt Rocks, it wasn’t the band’s first rodeo playing Hospitality Days and says that he lives for the moments to get on the big stage.

“Those kinds of festival gigs are what bands live for,” says Mike.

Ever since learning that the two bands were going to be sharing the stage at Hospitality Days, planning began for another show.

Now that show is a reality. On September 27, Helltown and The Alt Rocks will take the stage at Salle Denis-Richard in Petit Rocher at 8PM.

“It’s a full scale venue,” says Mike. “It’s got a full stage, and we put some investment into our sound and our lights, so we’ve got a good light show, and a good sound show.”

Thanks to the fundraising work by Rob Pratt, the event is backed by a slate of generous sponsors, helping to keep ticket prices affordable at $15. Tickets are available now at Ben’s Music Stop, Black Pug Records, MC’s Pawnshop, SC Hache Esso, Aaron’s Automotive, and Depanneur D.R.

Musically, the pairing works because of their differences. Helltown leans toward classic rock with a modern edge, while The Alt Rocks are rooted in 90s alternative anthems that everyone loves to sing along to. The variety ensures something for everyone.

For The Alt Rocks, the show also marks a milestone: their 10th anniversary. Formed out of a love for 90s rock, we want to congratulate the band on 10 years of rocking.

Helltown, meanwhile, is preparing to release their second original single, Rock and Roll Overdose, mastered in the UK and set to debut in time for the show. It follows their first single, Midnight in Helltown which gained strong local traction, and points toward a steady stream of new music.

Beyond this one-night event, both groups are eyeing the possibility of future joint shows.

They share a belief that the Bathurst music scene is on the rise, with venues like Southside Lounge, and The Greenhouse Lounge. They’re both hopeful for the addition of new venues and places for rock acts to hone their skills, but are thankful to the venues that have hosted them and the sponsors who have helped make this show a reality.

On September 27, it will be all about two bands, one stage, and a community ready to rock.

We want to thank Rob and Mike for sharing some more information on this show. For everyone reading, get your tickets, this is going to be a good one
